A Legacy of Love, Words, and Memory

The Story Behind EverWritten

It all began with a single journal—a book filled with love, wisdom, and the tender thoughts of a mother who left too soon.

For as long as I can remember, I have carried my mother's journal with me. It has always been with me—through every chapter of my life, always kept safe. The pages are worn with time, the ink slightly faded, but her words remain. When I read them, it's as though she is still here, gently guiding me, wrapping me in the love that never left.

A page from mom's journal

That journal became my comfort, my connection, my reminder that love never truly fades. Over the years, I would return to it, each time finding something new—words I hadn't fully understood as a child, emotions that resonated differently as I grew. It was a gift I never wanted to lose.

But then I realized—what about my own daughters? What about the words I want to leave behind for them?

As a mother, I have felt the depth of love that my own mother must have felt for me. And if something were ever to happen, I never want my daughters—Miley and Sadie—to go without knowing how deeply they are loved, how proud I am of them, and how I will always be with them.

And then, I thought beyond my own family. What about everyone else? How many stories are left untold? How many words, meant to bring comfort, are never written down?

A Dream Long Before Its Time

Over a decade ago, I had early dreams of creating a journaling heirloom app—a space where people could write for themselves and for those they love, preserving their words in a way that could last lifetimes.

But life, as it often does, had its own plans.

There were moments when I felt ready, when I wished the idea could become reality right then and there—but looking back, I realize that timing isn't always ours to control. Sometimes, things don't unfold when we want them to, but instead when they are meant to.

EverWritten wasn't just an idea—it was a calling. And now, after years of dreaming, learning, and growing, everything has fallen into place exactly as it should.

The Heart Behind EverWritten

My name is Catherine Merrill, and I am many things—a mother, a writer, a dreamer. My life has been filled with its share of loss, love, and longing, but through it all, I have found meaning in the written word.

EverWritten is more than just an app. It's a promise. A way to hold onto what matters. Whether you're journaling for yourself or leaving behind pieces of your heart for someone else, every word you write is a part of your legacy—a story forever written.

My hope for EverWritten is simple: that it becomes a space where people feel safe to preserve their memories, reflect on their journeys, and leave behind words that will be treasured for generations.

For my daughters.
For your children.
For anyone who should never go without knowing they were loved.

The Magic Behind the Scenes

EverWritten would not be possible without Josh—my husband, my partner in life, and the brilliant mind that brought this dream to life.

While I envisioned EverWritten, it was Josh who built it into reality. A true creator at heart, he has always had a gift for technology, for seeing possibilities where others see obstacles. His expertise in development and design turned an idea into an experience—a seamless, timeless, and deeply personal journaling space.

But it's more than just his technical skills that make Josh's role so special. It's his belief in stories, in legacy, and in me. He understood from the beginning what this app meant, and he poured his heart into making sure it would feel like home for anyone who used it.

Together, we've built EverWritten with one guiding truth in mind:
Some stories deserve to be remembered forever.

A Future Written in Love

EverWritten is just the beginning.

We dream of expanding this into something truly timeless—a movement of people capturing their lives, sharing their hearts, and passing down their words like heirlooms. We envision journals that can be printed into beautiful keepsakes, features that help families preserve their histories, and tools that make storytelling easier for generations to come.

And more than anything, we hope EverWritten feels like a sanctuary—a place where your words are safe, cherished, and always waiting for you.

Because in the end, our words are what remain.
And every story, no matter how big or small, deserves to be EverWritten.
